The concept of diversity struck me while I set up a dating profile on Bumble. One of the first things it asked for is Gender Identity, listing 75 possible choices. This seemed a bit excessive, but it is a dating site and gender identity says a lot about you, so you might as well be as specific as possible. Ten questions later you're asked for your Political Identity, listing 4 possible choices making it essentially useless to all but the most rigid and close-minded.
What caused such an explosion in one type of diversity and such a contraction of another? Are some types of diversity more important than others? I don't think these questions have easy answers, but worth chewing on.
